Sound of scuffling on the floor woke him up. The room was almost dark, he could see vaguely because the light of too bright streetlamps were invading, through the curtains on windows.
He mechanically looked at the direction of sound, not thinking, mind still groggy with sleep. It has been an hectic day!
Someone was crawling towards his bed, on all fours.
He turned on light and gasped.
It was the mummy he has smuggled out of tomb last night, the job that has kept him busy all night last night and all day today, to open its bandage and pry out the jewels of its body- two huge diamonds in its eyes, a ruby in its heart and the two medallions on its chest and back to protect it from problems in afterlife.
The light did not scared it, his gasp only pointed his location to it apparently, in one leap it was upon him, its hand grabbing his throat.
“My eyes!” it demanded in a throaty voice.
